I posted a prayer request on facebook, for a sweet family last week, Baby Gage was fighting for his life. Last Sunday, baby Gage passed away. I have been following his mom, Tara's blog and I am so blessed and inspired by her words and thoughts that I had to share. I hope it puts those little blessings into perspective, like it has mine!

In this trying time, we have learned to appreciate the little blessings and they have been abundant!
Literally every person who we have encountered in this ordeal has been incredibly kind and God placed specific people at the times we needed them the most. We had to speak with police investigators, a child licensing rep., a forensic nurse, a forensic doctor, and of course, Big Papi who I think is known for not having the best bed-side manner but was just wonderful with us.
I can't say enough about our wonderful nurses. They were so considerate of our situation and completely ignored all of the ICU visitation rules so that we could have our loved ones with us. They also kept all of the other people (x-ray techs, EEG people etc) who had to deal with Gage in line : ) If I ever need to get anything done from here on out, I think I will call upon a PICU nurse to help.
A friend of ours from church is the director of all the pediatric nurses. She is one of those special people that God placed right when we needed her and she made sure that we took care of ourselves as well as Gage. Our nurse on our last day with Gage was also specifically appointed by God, I'm sure. She was a fellow believer and cried along with us as we spent our final moments with our baby boy. I figured you had to be made of steel to be a PICU nurse but she was all heart and we dearly appreciate her. Even the man who had to transport Gage after he had passed was tender hearted and also cried with us as he wrapped him up. These are people who deal with tragedy all of the time but still shared in our pain in these final moments. Every where we have turned, things have gone as easily as they possibly can and we have been lifted up and encouraged.
Even today at Staples when we went to have our photos enlarged for the service we encountered a little blessing - enlargements were half off. Not that the cost matters but God gives us these little gems to get us through. When I'm reading my Bible, I have a pink pen that I use to underline my mama/wife/woman verses. It has been missing since we moved to our new house. Last night we were looking for a CD and I opened a drawer and there was my pink pen; it's a little blessing. God knew that I would need that pen now more than ever.
